Superconductivity

This work discusses some of the most important aspects of superconductivity, and it presents a detailed synthesis of Yttrium Barium Copper Oxide (YBCO) superconductors. This paper’s goal is to describe the theoretical understandings of superconductors, and to demonstrate how to fabricate YBCO superconductors, thereby putting the theoretical knowledge into practice.

The theoretical part talks about the history of superconductors. Topics such as BCS theory, flux pinning, the Meisser effect and Cooper pairs are covered. The most important differences between type I and type II superconductors are discussed. This work also looks at some real-life uses of superconductors, such as magnetic levitation.

The experimental part focuses on the synthesis of YBCO superconductors, and it explains the most important processes which occur during the fabrication. The cost-effectiveness of synthesizing YBCO superconductors, as opposed to buying them, is also discussed.
